Governing Board Members
Suzette Arnold | Chair
Suzette Arnold currently works for the Georgia Department of Labor as the Director of Grants and Contracts for eight years. She is responsible for the management of federal funds of more than $124 Million dollars and charged with bringing new funding to the agency.
She served as a policy analyst for the Community Development team at Fulton County. Her core responsibilities include policy analysis, monitoring, program and project evaluation, the management of internal controls and management of all grants and contracts funded for federally funded programs. She has over 15 years of public service experience in areas covering homelessness, mental health and mental retardation and juvenile delinquency, workforce development.
She currently serves on the Industry Advisory Board of Keller School of Management/DeVry University and an Advisory Board Member for the Atlanta-Montego Bay Sister Cities Commission.
Suzette holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Bernard Baruch College (City University of New York) and a master’s degree in Policy and Program Analysis and Evaluation also from Bernard Baruch College (City University of New York).
Harry Stern | Vice Chair
Harry Stern served as the CEO of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta for sixteen years. Upon his retirement from that agency, he assumed an administrative role at Kennesaw State University. He founded and directed the Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Development, at the time the state’s only college program for persons with intellectual disabilities.
Harry also served as the CEO of the Jewish Community Centers of San Diego.He served as Vice President of Human Resources with Shopwell Supermarkets in New York City, a company of seventy-two stores throughout the metro area. He holds a Masters Degree and Doctorate in Social Planning and Administration from Columbia University.
Janelle Wilhite | Treasurer
Janelle Wilhite is excited to work with the DPA community and states that she sees firsthand how decisions impact student development at the school. She holds a B.A and M.P.A from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She has over 17 years of experience in public budgeting and policy analysis at the state government level. Her various roles have included positions within the Governor’s budget offices for the states of Georgia and Kansas. She currently is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the budget office for the Georgia Department of Labor. She joined the Governing Board during the 2015-16 school year.
Roberta Walker | Member
Roberta Walker is a retired educator who has worked in the DeKalb County School District for 40 years. She began her teaching career in 1976 at Fairington Elementary. She is a graduate of Morris Brown College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Master of Education degree from Georgia State University. Post graduate studies were completed at Clark Atlanta University earning certification in educational leadership and curriculum development. She ended her career after serving eighteen years as principal of Rowland Elementary School.
Dr. Beverly Cox | Member
Dr. Beverly L. Cox was born and raised in Savannah, GA. My dream has always been to become an educator. My dreams became a reality when I graduated from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, VA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. I continued my education by earning a Masters Degree in Special Education from Armstrong-Savannah State College Joint Graduate Program, a Leadership Certificate from Georgia State University, A Specialist Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Georgia, Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum Studies from Georgia Southern University.
My career as an educator has been spent in elementary schools serving in the following capacities: Special Education teacher, An Instructional Lead Teacher and a Principal in both a magnet and charter school. I worked as a Program Specialist in the Literacy Program with the Georgia Department of Education
Jamal Mitchell | Member
Jamal Mitchell is a Cloud Engineer for Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions and has 17 years experience in Unix, Linux and Cloud Engineering.
Jamal is an expert in Open Source solutions for enterprise customers and has worked in public and private sectors. He enjoys working with technology and pays it forward by training and mentoring young aspiring Information Technology professionals. In his spare he enjoys travel, sporting events and the great restaurant scene here in metro Atlanta.
Jamal holds a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University and MS in Information Systems from Georgia State University.
